Most of us sit somewhere in between: using it quietly to speed things up, fix copy when we’re too tired to think, or get three ideas out of a blank doc.

So here’s a quick breakdown of what’s actually useful, and what to avoid:

✔️ The smart ways to use ChatGPT in Digital PR:

– Turning raw survey data into press angles

– Speeding up first drafts (especially intros and expert quote placeholders)

– Scaling ideation: “10 angles for this story”, “3 TikTok hooks”, “headline variations”

– Reworking tone: turning a dry LinkedIn post into something more confident

– Generating reactive angles based on live news (when you feed it context)

❌ What to avoid:

– Letting it write quotes from scratch (they’ll sound bland—or worse, made up)

– Using it to create ideas without giving background or a clear goal

– Trusting stats it gives you. Always plug in real data. Always.

– Forgetting compliance if you’re in finance, legal, or health

– Publishing anything that sounds like “We’re thrilled to announce…”

It’s not here to replace strategy.
