Hey, I’m Sophie – and welcome to Cupid PR’s newsletter.
Honestly? I didn’t expect 40 of you to subscribe, so thanks for proving me wrong. If you managed to grab the free guides last week – good timing. They’re paid now (bills, you know how it is), but every single one is packed with tips I use myself. No BS. Just stuff that actually helps you land links.
If you’re new here – quick intro. I started doing Digital PR back in 2013, pitching infographics at NeoMam Studios. It was chaos, but it taught me everything. I went on to iProspect (some of the best years of my career), then ended up at Dentsu where I really stepped into senior roles. Fast forward five years, and I now own Cupid PR .
What you’ll get in this newsletter:
Real Digital PR tips that actually work
Weekly search trends I’m tracking
Google updates you should care about
Quick wins you can steal for your own clients
If it’s not actionable, it doesn’t go in.
And if you’ve got a tip you want to share - let me know!
Why I Use Search Trends in Nearly Every Campaign
Search trends are one of the easiest ways to find credible angles the media will actually care about. If people are Googling a question around your niche, your brand can be the one to answer it.
I use tools like Glimpse to spot rising search terms each week – things like:
“Best way to pack for a weekend break”
“Do lip fillers hurt?”
“Can you lose muscle without protein shakes?”
If people are searching for it, journalists often need experts or data to build that story out. That’s where my clients come in.
The best part? It’s real-time, demand-led insight – not guesswork. You’re using public search behaviour as the proof.
So when I say “search trends won’t be going anywhere,” I mean it. They’re one of the fastest ways to:
Spot what people want answers to
Position your brand as the expert
Land links and coverage without needing a big campaign
If you’re not already watching what people are Googling in your niche… start.
🔍 Google Update – What You Need to Know (June 2025)
🔍 Google Update – What You Need to Know (June 2025)
There’s been a lot of movement on Google’s end — here’s what actually matters for Digital PR and link-building right now.
AI Overviews are now live in the UK
Google’s rolling out AI-generated answers at the top of search results — meaning fewer people are clicking through to websites. But if your client offers expert insight, original data or industry-first answers, they can become the source that Google (and journalists) quote.
June Core Update is in progress
Google’s prioritising content with strong E-E-A-T — that’s Experience, Expertise, Authority, Trust. This gives more weight to expert-led content, first-hand commentary, and proper media features (like the coverage we secure through Digital PR).
Spam Update also landed
Google’s cracking down on keyword stuffing, thin content, old redirect tricks and doorway pages. If you’re creating campaign pages or repurposing older content for PR, keep it useful, clean, and backed by a real purpose.
AI Mode visibility coming to Search Console
Soon, you’ll be able to see which pages are being picked up by Google’s AI Overviews. That means smarter planning - and identifying which topics are worth doubling down on.
TL;DR:
This is not the time for filler. The brands getting seen (by both AI and journalists) are the ones offering real value: expert insight, original data, and standout stories.
✨ Quick Wins You Can Steal This Week
You don’t always need a full-blown campaign to land great links. Some of the best wins come from being sharp, reactive and useful. Here’s what I’m keeping an eye on this week – feel free to steal any of it:
Use Glimpse to spot breakout terms in your client’s niche – if there’s a sudden spike in searches around heatwaves, travel delays, or “how to sleep better in summer,” that’s your window.
Pair a trending query with an expert comment – journalists are always on the lookout for quick, credible input. Don’t overcomplicate it.
Refresh older content to align with the June Google updates — remove fluffy content, update stats, add expert insight. Especially if you’ve got older campaign pages sitting on solid domains.
Look at Reddit for real people’s questions – search “[topic] + Reddit” and see what’s actually being asked. Those raw queries often make brilliant headline hooks.
Stay visible – if you haven’t posted a tip, trend or opinion on LinkedIn this week, do it. You never know who’s watching (and journalists do scroll).
